Custom-built wood mantel with crown molding, fluted pilaster columns and a raised panel frieze — spray finished semi-gloss white and installed around the original black Nero marble surround and hearth.

From Raw Wood to Flawless Finish
Built offsite from raw poplar so the dust and fumes stayed out of the house. Sanded, primed, and spray finished with an HVLP gun — the reason the surface has no brush marks. Installed and caulked on site so it reads as built-in rather than added on.

Before: A Surround With No Mantel
The black Nero marble surround and hearth were in good condition, so they stayed. What the fireplace was missing was the mantel — so the new one was designed around the marble that was already there.
